You will find Malanda, a medium sized rural town renown for its dairy industry of milk and cheese nestled in the lush rolling green hills of the Tablelands, 25 km south east of Atherton. Surrounded by pockets of World Heritage listed rainforest, it is one of the wettest areas of the Tablelands, and has a cool climate.
Malanda is a centre proud of its home grown produce and highly creative arts and crafts.
It now also proudly boasts a Toastmasters Club which in mid 2011 reached charter strength and has achieved full recognition as a Club within the International network.
Toastmasters is a voluntary non profit community based organisation that strives to enhance members’ communication and leadership skills. It holds twice monthly meetings where members deliver oral speeches and perform various active roles that are all designed to develop confidence and speaking abilities. Learning takes place by doing.
More experienced members provide assistance through evaluations and short educational sessions. There is enormous value in having the support and friendship of others who understand your fears of speaking publically because they have been through it themselves.
While Toastmasters focus is on personal development; specifically with communication and leadership skills you will find membership offers many other peripheral benefits like higher self esteem, extended social networking and friendships.
The best way to find out if it is something that would benefit you is to come along as a visitor. Be our guest! No obligation and no pressure to participate unless you decide you want too.
We meet at the Malanda Lodge for a dinner meeting at 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start on every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.
Meals can be ordered off the menu.
We would love to see you at one of our meets so please come along!
Our first meeting for 2012 is on Monday 06 February 2021.
