Top Table Toastmasters had a great day at the Millaa Millaa markets today.
Toastmasters Anne, Nicky, Kaj, Rod and Brigitte set up a promotional stall in order to let the region know that Toastmasters is keen to once again have a strong and vocal presence in the area and that we encourage interested people to come along to our meetings.
Both Kaj and Rod gave speeches – Kaj giving his speech that won him 2nd place in the Division International contest about the lessons we can learn from Peru.
Rod delivered his very funny speech about Cousin Lionald’s Ride, describing how he and his brother sought to ‘break’ their cousin from the city by setting him upon one of their goats for one helluva ride.
Brigitte orchestrated a wildly entertaining Masterchef Skit which had the crowds enthralled.
Raffle tickets were sold in a fantastic hamper prepared by Jill Morris from Simply Hampers. Jill is a member of Mt Sheridan Toastmasters Club which is the sponsoring Club for Malanda’s new Club.
Lots of people bought tickets and the hamper was won by Mel who I’m sure was delighted to win the wonderful selection of gourmet chocolates, nuts, peanut brittle and wine. Money raised from this raffle will go towards educational resources for the new Club.
As well as meeting lots of locals we were most pleased to meet Mayor Tom Gilmore and Councillor Rhonda Sorensen and we hope to see lots of you at our meetings in the near future.
